The Question.
Nervous, anxious, scared even.
The moment is approaching, “you are ready” you convince yourself, then you pause.
It all goes fast and blurry and yet slow and tame.
Her eyes on you, she has no idea where you really are.
You are off in your mind, adventuring.
Climbing through the mountains of terror.
Swimming across the ocean of fright.
Walking the desert of uncertainty.
You are close, the moment is upon you, it always was. You have been here all along.
Your bravery is on vacation.
Sweating, trembling, wide-eyed and nervous. This is you, so in love.
Never nervous with her, never nervous until it counts and this counts, this is real.
The question on your mind is the hardest one to ask.
The words are there, you just need to say them.
You know you have to, she is your everything.
Why is this so hard? Why can’t you manage this?
“You can do it!” your mind shouts, it echoes through your body.
Then you’re doing it. Here it is, it’s happening. This is your life changing forever.
This changes it all no matter what she says.
The silence strikes like lightning.
Waiting lifetimes in a matter of seconds.
Suddenly that silence shatters like glass, with her voice.
The greatest voice you will ever hear.
“Yes.”
